Welcome! I'm so glad you've stopped by. My name is Megan Hoyt, and I write books for children.
Sometimes life doesn't make sense. Paths that should be straight are crooked. Rocks are strewn onto the path, and we stub our toes as we stumble along. Whenever I get discouraged, I like to find a thoughtful spot like Winnie the Pooh and see if twisting crowns from willow branches will help me process the tough bits.
I also like to turn my attention toward other things when the road of life gets bumpy, to look at things from kooky angles and see what makes them work. Do you? I'm very interested in nature and how the natural world works. Sometimes I like to look at things up close. Have you ever seen a rose petal magnified a thousand times? Have you seen a snowflake or a raindrop magnified a thousand times? The intricacies of these tiny designs are amazing. And so are you.
You are important to me. But I’ll bet you’re also important to a lot of other people besides me – your parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, friends, your pastor, priest, rabbi, or teacher. And you are important to God.
I wrote a book about another important person. Her name was Hildegard. She lived a long time ago in a German town called Bingen. God gave Hildegard some very special gifts. She created beautiful artwork and wrote lovely songs. Hildegard said she was only a feather on the breath of God. She said God showed her what He wanted her to paint, write, and say to people. I believe her.
Hildegard was a gifted artist, composer, herbalist, author, and public speaker. Her gifts were amazing! I can't wait to hear about the gifts God has given you, too. If you'd like to tell me what you're interested in and what you think your gifts are, you can write me a message in the comment box below.
